Featured Speaker: Laurie Graham (RASC Kingston): Pretty Pictures From the James Webb Space Telescope: The telescope and the science behind the images
One striking image from the James Webb Space Telescope set me on a path to better understand the object it revealed. As often happens in science, each answer led to further questions. My curiosity quickly expanded beyond the target itself to how the telescope works and what it truly “sees.” Comparing infrared and visible-light views raised deeper questions about how wavelength shapes our perception of the universe. In this presentation, I will share images that highlight both the science and the beauty revealed by Webb, and explore the physical principles behind them.
