New Home of Attilla Danko 25″ Obsession Dobsonian Telescope is the Lennox & Addington Dark Sky Viewing Area

Lennox & Addington County and the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada — Kingston Centre are pleased to announce the deployment of the Attilla Danko 25″ (0.63m) f/4 Obsession Dobsonian telescope to the L&A Dark Sky Viewing Area, located at 7980 County Road 41 in Erinsville, Ontario.

The telescope’s large aperture and superior optics will give guests outstanding views of the night sky. A tall ladder is required to reach the eyepiece at the maximum height of 245cm (8′). It was donated to the RASC Kingston Centre in 2025 by the Estate of the late Attilla Danko. Attilla is best known for his award-winning Clear Sky Charts, born of his love of “faint fuzzies.” He was also a devoted outreach astronomer who spent countless hours bringing large telescopes to star parties — most notably this 25″ (0.63m) Obsession.
