The RASC-KC sponsors the Frontenac Lennox and Addington Science Fair with a special award for projects related to Astronomy. We are circulating this poster in the hopes of garnering interest among students to do a project in this field.

Are you thinking of entering the FLASF 2019 Science Fair? (March 28-29th)

The Kingston Astronomy Club is offering the Leo Enright Award for the best project in Astronomy and related sciences. The awardee will receive $100 and the book “A Beginners Observing Guide”

Here are some suggestions to get you started on an Astronomy Project! Try observing with binoculars at night:

  • Check out the moon and planet rising and setting times in your area:
  • Identify the planets visible each night. Note that some planets appear to come closely together (conjunction) at certain times (eg. Venus and Jupiter in January).
  • Look for constellations you might know, and identify the brighter stars, using the internet or a star chart to assist you. Well-known examples are Ursa Major and Minor,Cassiopiea, Taurus and Orion.
