KAON Queen's Observatory Open House

The KAON (Kingston Astronomy Outreach Network) Queen's University Ellis Hall Observatory  Open House:
This is your monthly reminder of the OpenHouse this Saturday March 9th starting at 7:30 pm in Ellis Hall. This month's talk will be given by Larry Widrow from Queen's University on: "Rediscovering our Galaxy". Larry will be talking about new insights into our galaxy, The Milky Way, that we have gained with advanced new telescopes! This is surely a talk you will not want to miss!
I have exciting news about a new event you may be interested in! Please read below for more information:
Astronomy on Tap is coming to Kingston, with its inaugural event here at the amazing Tir Nan Og Irish Pub. We will feature three fantastic astronomers, Dr. Stéphane Courteau, Dr. Kristine Spekkens, and Dr. Katie Mack, who will each talk about “Why they do what they do”. The event will also feature trivia and other activities, and lots of opportunity to have a pint with some keen astronomers.
We will be continuing our team-up with the McDonald Institute visitor center! After the talk, groups will be able to go to the visitor center in Stirling Hall (a nearby building) and see their awesome physics displays and demos! Everyone will get an opportunity to see both the observatory and the visitor center.
As always, feel free to bring your own telescopes and binoculars, and to discuss your  questions and findings with graduate students at Queen's and the awesome people from RASC!
The forecast is calling for clear skies on Saturday night! Mars, The Orion Nebula, and The Pleiades will be up, so lets hope we get a good view!
I hope to see everyone there on Saturday!
