Darkest skies in southern Ontario on display again this summer
Dark Sky Preserve one of the best places for stargazing in the province

Plevna, Ontario - North Frontenac has the darkest skies in southern Ontario and therefore the Dark Sky Preserve is one of the best places for stargazing in the province. Located within hours from Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and New York, the preserve has a beautiful observation pad that is publically accessible and today the schedule of events for the upcoming season has been released, beginning with International Astronomy Day in May.

"We are very excited to bring visitors to the observation pad. The events we organize showcase the dark skies we are known for and we often bring in amateur astronomers who provide context to what you see. And you see a lot," said North Frontenac Mayor Ron Higgins, himself is a passionate stargazer and owner of a small telescope.

"I am proud to represent an area that is one of the best places to watch the skies in Ontario," Higgins said. He adds that anybody is welcome, whether people have binoculars, a telescope or none of the above and that the observation pad is also accessible on evenings there are no special events scheduled.
