Observational Astronomy for the Novice (OAFTN) is an eight week course, running on Monday evenings from September to November.
*Note that there will be no course offering in 2008 due to declining enrollments*

OAFTN will teach the novice:

As part of the course you will complete the "Explore the Universe" Certificate. This certificate program will show you a sample of all the night sky has to offer.

The cost of the course is $150 (Fall 2007).

  • Q: Do I need a telescope for the course? A: No. The course is geared to naked eye and binocular observing. We will provide guidance for the purchase of binoculars and telescopes.
  • Q: Will we get a chance to observe? A: Yes. There will be one observing session held during the course.
