2017 Perseid Meteor Shower

The 2017 Perseids will peak on the night of Saturday 2017 August 12 and early morning hours of Sunday August 13.
This year, a Waning Gibbous Moon may hinder a good view of the meteor shower.  Full moon is on Monday August 7th.
The best method to visually observe this meteor shower:
- find a place in your backyard away from streetlights and house lights.
- out in the country away from cities and towns will get you darker skies.
- use a reclining chair with a blanket underneath and one on top to keep you warm
- let your eyes dark adapt for up to 30 minutes (ie no white light flashlights, car headlights, etc).
- long exposure wide angle camera photography will also work well.
